The City of Austin Does Allow For Investor Owned Condo Short Term Rentals
These permits are known as Type 3 STR permits. There are caps on the number of investor owned short term rentals allowed in each condo building. If the condo is located in a residentially zoned area, the maximum number of units that can be licensed as full-time investor owned short term rental is 3% of the total units in the condo building. For condos located in commercially zoned areas, the max is 25% of total units.
